Passed by this restaurant hell lot of times, so finally we decided to have a quick dinner here. On the rocks located opp Dadus Jubilee Hills, adjacent to SVM mall is an open terrace restaurant, it always makes me skeptical because Hyderabad has loads of mosquitoes. Cocktails is a lounge bar on the 4th floor and On the Rocks is a casual wine and dine restaurant on the terrace.
So we went there Thursday night around 9, decided to go for On The Rocks as we were looking to have a quick dinner. The entrance is like going in a cave with dim blue lights. Once you enter the restaurant it’s all bright and nice. The place looked deserted expect a few waiters, may be they are full only on weekends. Promptly seated, the ambience is lovely, no mosquitoes thankfully. Ordered a Manhattan cocktail, these people sure know how to mix a drink guess the name says it. So for starters ordered shami kabab, mini patties of minced lamb, the food was served pretty soon. Mini shami kabab with a side of salad and mint chutney, frankly I didn’t like it, the only taste I could get was of the gsm. It didn’t feel like I’m eating lamb patties, quite disappointing.
For mains we ordered Murgh chandi korma with naan. We didn’t actually expect a good dish after having the disastrous kabab, so to our surprise the curry was bang on, looked good and tasted amazing, could get the rich cashew flavor and the koya. It had proper amount of spice, the meat was succulent, everything about the dish was a 10/10 and the naan was pretty good too.
If they improve the starters with this ambience and the amazing cocktails the restaurant could actually be a crowd puller. So overall a decent experience.
