MOB – Exclusive Belgium Beer Bar Review

MOB has been on my checklist for quite some time. The array of Finest Beer brands from Belgium – would surely lure in any beer lover. I visited the place Wednesday late evening as part of a last minute anniversary celebration plan.

The ambiance is reminiscent of a relaxed European styled bar with option of seating outside overlooking KBR park or inside. The place was not full as it was a weekday, we preferred to sit inside near the bar in the air conditioned area. Live IPL match was screened and the waiters were in IPL jerseys. The idea of Belgian beer with cricket is odd but it’s India, can’t complain. Ideal scenario would have been beers watching a premier league football match and talking about the Belgians – Fellaini and Hazard.

The drinks menu is a classic and thorough, explaining about each beer type. On the downside they don’t have all the beers as mentioned in menu. We ordered for blanche de namur and petrus tripel (but was unavailable). So decided to try their classic 4 tap beers. But the thing I hate is they charge 125/- Rs for the samples. Oh! come on that should be complimentary, right? But the beers are a classic. Blanche de namur had a sweet fruity taste with a bitter after taste. Also tried out cherry beer as Pink bomb was unavailable. It tasted good. Apart from beer they also have Wines, Cocktails and single Malts.

They have limited food options but enough finger foods to go with the beers. We ordered for Gunpowder prawns and Grilled meat platter which had chicken, fish and prawns. Some tenderloin steak or baby ribs would go great with the beers. The taste was quite good but nothing to go gaga over. Overall quite a nice experience, even though it hits the pocket a bit hard.
