Whenever someone mentions butter to me, I instantly get an image of Amul girl holding toast with butter on it. Guess every Indian has literally grown up watching the hoarding of the golden girl or have seen her in the newspapers and television ads almost on a daily basis and butter has become synonymous with Amul in every Indian household.
As we all know, Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand, Gujarat, India. It’s managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers.
I’m sure everyone is well aware of huge range of products from Amul, whether be it the very famous Amul butter, milk to all the other milk products such as curd, paneer, buttermilk, chocolates and my Personal favorite Amul ice cream ( Ps: You always find these in my fridge)
So, why am I going on writing about butter and cheese? Yes i’m getting there, hold your horses.
Today I donned the chef’s hat and thought i’d make myself something fancy, so i’m turning Italian for the day and making myself some prawns in Alfredo sauce and some butter garlic prawns. Being too lazy to go out and buy cheddar cheese, I glance through the fridge and Amul cheese slices comes to my rescue, so the ingredients I used to make the pasta sauce were Amul Milk, cheese, and some utterly butterly delicous butter.
The Cheese slices are flavorsome and since Amul products are made from graded cow/buffalo milk using microbial rennet meets the BIS standards so its safe and super tasty. Although there are many brands offerings the same products in the market I personally feel Amul’s prices are worthy and quite low compared to others and the taste always brings back a sense of nostalgia of childhood.
So do let me know your favorite products from Amul or a product you want me to review for you. Signing off on a utterly butterly delicious note 🙂
